Carrefour in Kenya launches a new online grocery shopping app

Jan 28, 2021

Carrefour MAF
Carrefour franchisee Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) has launched a new mobile shopping app in Kenya. The app offers customers in Nairobi access to 8,000 SKUs with the option of same day or next day delivery. It also allows customers to build a shopping list and see the frequently purchased items.

Initially, the delivery service will cover Nairobi only, with plans to roll it out to other cities later. MAF only has Carrefour stores in Nairobi and a single store in Mombasa at present (two more stores are planned in Mombasa). The app allows Carrefour customers to choose a one hour delivery slot between 9am and 8pm on the same day or the next day.

The service only works with mobile money platform M-PESA although it will take credit and debit cards in the future.  Deliveries are subject to a fee of KSh99 ($0.90).

Carrefour also has a store within the Jumia site in Kenya from a partnership signed in November 2018. As at today, that store carried 2,646 products.
