Carrefour set to open new store in Nakumatt’s former “Mega” outlet

May 26, 2020

Carrefour MAF
Car & General (Kenya), owner of the site of Nakumatt’s Mega superstore on Nairobi’s, Uhuru Highway, has signed a lease deal with Majid Al Futtaim (Carrefour). The new store will open in June.

The branch was originally scheduled to open in March, but refurbishment was postponed due to coronavirus disruptions. The site covers 6,500m², including car parking. We believe that its sales area is around 3,700m², the size of the Nakumatt store that preceded it.

It will be the eighth Carrefour store in Kenya, and comes at a time when rivals Shoprite and Tuskys are closing stores.
