Olam Ghana joint venture Nutrifoods Ghana, the leading manufacturer of biscuits in Ghana, has launched the Milky Magic Eggrich biscuit brand in Accra and Kumasi. The new brand is designed to provide a healthy snacking options for kids.
The Eggrich brand’s ingredients will include fortified wheat flour, egg powder, and milk protein. It is designed to provide an affordable source of protein for Ghanaian kids. The biscuits come in a 36g pack, which costs 0.50p ($.10). The brand will be distributed in both modern supermarkets channels and the traditional trade. As part of the launch campaign, Nutrifoods will run product sampling in shopping centres, schools and churches.
Nutrifoods Ghana is co-owned by Singapore-based Olam International and Japan’s Sanyo Foods. It is Ghana’s leading biscuit manufacturer and makes brands including Perk, Milky Magic, Royal Digestive and Royal King Cracker. It is increasingly exploring the healthy snacking space, having launched its premium oats digestive brand Nutrisnax and a low sugar variant of its popular Royal King Cracker brand in 2018.
