Tunisia’s leading online grocery retailer, Founa, has launched Tunisia’s first click and collect grocery service. It will be piloted at Magasin Général’s MG Maxi hypermarket at La Marsa, a wealthy tourist town close to the capital, Tunis.
Founded in 2013, Founa sold an 80% stake to leading leading grocery retailer Magasin Général in December 2018 after struggling for years to scale.
The new click and collect service, called “Drive” ( in common with how the service is offered in France by supermarket chains) is the first of its type in Tunisia. It will be piloted at Magasin Général’s MG Maxi hypermarket at La Marsa. La Marsa is a wealthy tourist town close to Tunis with a population of 100,000 (although this increases significantly during the summer months).
Since its acquisition, Founa has quietly added more delivery areas. For its core online ordering and delivery service it now covers Tunis, Sousse, Nabeul, Ben Arous, Monastir, Manouba, Ariana. Benefiting from Magasin Général’s supply chain it has also greatly increased the range of SKUs it offers too. Founa has also added a range of retail partners for what it calls its marketplace – offering jewellery, homewares, specialist desserts and more.
