Pizza Hut, Africa
Yum! Brands’ Pizza Hut has partnered with Vivo Energy (the pan-African operator of Shell service stations) to open its first outlets in Côte d’Ivoire.

Pizza Hut has opened its first outlet in Côte d’Ivoire, on the forecourt of a Shell service station on Rue Paul Langevin in Abidjan. The new opening comes after Yum! Brands opened the first outlet of its KFC franchise in the country in April 2018, also in partnership with Vivo Energy. The 24 seater outlet is on a Shell forecourt on Rue Pierre & Marie Curie in Abidjan. It offers 24/7 service and a drive thru.

Vivo plans to open two more KFC stores before the end of 2018. The next opening will be on the Boulevard des Martyrs, at Carrefour Duncan, in Abidjan. It also plans to open further stores in 2019. Vivo operates around 1,800 service stations under the Shell brand in more than 15 African countries. Following the acquisition of Engen Holdings’ forecourts it will expand into a further nine countries.

In South Africa, KFC is an established fixture on service station forecourts. So too, is the presence of Pizza Hut rival Debonairs Pizza, a South African franchise owned by Famous Brands.
