Rubis Energy rebrands KenolKobil service stations in Uganda

Jun 4, 2021

Rubis Energy has formally launched operations in Uganda under the Rubis brand. The move follows its 2019 acquisition of Kobil Uganda and Delta’s assets. Rubis Energy Uganda has a network of 54 service stations nationally.

After its 2019 acquisition of Kenya-based KenolKobil, Rubis Energy announced plans to restructure the 33 KenolKobil service stations in Uganda and Rwanda that KenolKobil had acquired from Delta Petroleum in November 2018.

In Kenya, Rubis Energy has a network of over 230 service stations under the Gulf Energy, Kenol, Kobil and Rubis brands. Rubis has also announced a partnership with Brioche, a Rwandan coffee shop and bakery to set up cafés at their service stations nationwide. It also operates in fuel retail in Ethiopia, Djibouti, Burundi, Rwanda and Zambia.

In March this year, Kenol Kobil Rwanda rebranded its 61 service stations to Rubis. The company plans to rebrand all Kenol, Kobil and Gulf assets to Rubis by 2022.
