Shoprite opens new distribution centre in Lagos

Shoprite has opened a new state-of-the-art distribution centre in Lagos to serve its growing supermarket network in Nigeria’s major city.

Shoprite has announced the opening of a new The 4,700m² distribution centre in Lagos. It is is the first property owned entirely by Shoprite in Nigeria. 2,560m² will be occupied by Freshmark, Shoprite’s fruit and vegetable procurement, buying and distribution arm. 1,180 m² will be used to store dry goods.

The new distribution centre comes as Shoprite continues to open new stores in Nigeria. In July 2018, the company opened its 26th supermarket, in Abuja’s Novare Central Mall. It is by far the largest retailer in Nigeria, with stores in 13 cities.
